Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL)

Maryland requires a Handgun Qualification License (HQL) before you can purchase, rent, or otherwise take possession of a handgun. This LIVE virtual course and in-person range qualification satisfies the state-mandated training requirement for your HQL application.

We'll cover:

• Maryland firearm law and the HQL application process
• Safe handling, storage, and transport of a handgun
• How a handgun operates, field-stripped and explained
• The state-required live-fire qualification, completed under direct instructor supervision

Upon successful range qualification you'll receive a certificate of completion to submit with your HQL application to the Maryland State Police Licensing Division. Fingerprinting is not included, but we'll provide all of the information you'll need to complete the process.
